Have you written a Business plan?

I just received an email about a proposal I sent off about an idea for a business I would like to start. They think it is a good idea but would like a business plan to show investors. ~ anxiety attack inserted here~

Now I can tell a good story, but selling myself is a whole 'nother matter. I have searched on resources about how to write one up, and it hasn't helped me too much. Maybe I need it broken down a bit more. I tend to get uncomfortable tooting my own horn. And look at this! How on Earth am I supposed to figure all that out?

Deep breath.

This business is something that I have wanted for a few years. I have tried figuring it all out before, got frustrated, and stopped. Ok I don't need to include all the info that the link claims as it is a beginning business. Still I am a bit lost for words when it comes down to it.

I need to purchase larger acreage, I will need to hire specialized employees. I will need small scale lodging for customers, a larger "hall". ugh. deep breath. . . can any one talk me down? Have you written a successful business plan and wouldn't mind helping me out a bit?

Thanks in advance.

Go to www.score.org (Service Core of Retired Executives). There are a lot of experts who will help you for free.

I just finished a business plan and lemme tell ya' it wasn't fun for me. =)
I would be happy to help you out in any way that I can. I would even send you mine if it helped although I started a photography business and I don't think that is anywhere in the same job market as yours.
Send me an e-mail-nicoleslaterphotography@dishmail.net

Thanks guys.

You know I have been looking for sample plans and can not find anything remotely like what I want to do. I have to mix and match and piece it together.

I went to the SCORE offices and got some excellent help from one of the volunteers. The financial side was the hardest for me--until the guy helping me told me to start from the bottom--how much you charge for what your selling multiplied by expected sales. Then you guesstimate your expenses. It's not perfect, but it's a start. Sounds like you might be planning something distantly related to Paws & Rest, so if you would like I can send you what I have done.

When do you need it by? I have something that might help you, but I'll have to send it to you and it will take a couple of days to get there ;).

Whimzy, thank you! I think I got that part down pat.

Is Paws and Rest yours?

Wendy, I found a small business owner willing to help me out here locally. Thanks though.

We are writing one now for our small farm, on the recommendation of our Farm Business Management Program instructor. It seems our banks won't work with us until we have one.

He said the free service offered by the University of MN is excellent. It's called AgPlan (https://www.agplan.umn.edu/) and it is free. You do not need to be a MN resident to use it. It's easy to follow and shows you examples as well as offers tips for each step.

Hope that helps.
