Could I test some poison on your children?

Now this is just wonderful. I feel so much safer now that Islam Siddiqui was able to bypass the Senate confirmation vote, and placed into the office of chief agricultural negotiator in the office of the U.S. trade representative.

Yet another reason you should really try to grow your own food, not be fooled by the organic labels, and buy from local growers where you can see what they are doing to your food.

This is the man that helped create the organics standards. you know the poop food, 5% non natural ingredients, and all that jazz. So many people did not want this man in an office. But of course, we are only people, and that seems not to matter much.

Siddiqui is a former pesticide lobbyist and is currently vice president of science and regulatory affairs at CropLife America, a biotech and pesticide trade group .

CropLife America, formerly known as the National Agricultural Chemicals Association, lobbies to weaken the Endangered Species Act and the Clean Water Act, claiming that pesticides are not pollutants because of their intended beneficial effect and that pesticides positively impact endangered species. The group has lobbied to allow pesticides to be tested on children and to allow the continued use of persistent organic pollutants and ozone-depleting chemicals. It also launched a petition asking Michelle Obama to use pesticides in the organic White House garden and fought county initiatives in California banning genetically modified foods.

I agree on this appointment. Horrible. Obama has been hit-or-miss on his appointments.

Look at his economic appointments. Horrible.

Unfortunately, the Republicans decided that they would just say "no" to everyone so they effectively took themselves out of the discussion.

When you just say no to everyone -- qualified or not -- you forfeit the ability to be a part of the discussion.

Too bad.

We need a counter voice to this administration.

Wow! You know, if I didn't already think there might be something to all of the conspiracy theories, things like this would certainly make it more difficult for me to continue being a denier. More and more it just seems that someone out there is in control and has some very self-serving plans for the rest of us.

I get so frustrated reading things like this; this whole revolving door for people from working in big corporations to government jobs overseeing their former employers and the laws that affect them is just ridiculous and maddening!

Here's my sticky situation: How can I be sure that the feeds my animals are getting aren't made from these frankenfood crops, filled with chemicals that wreck my body? Will I have to start looking for people growing organic feed grain?

Lady S, the simple answer is yes. I know that here, we have may people about that sell organic mashes and pig feeds. We bought an entire field from a farmer for hay for our livestock and asked that he did not spray it. Since we own it, the hay that is, he will not be spraying it.

Try putting an add up on craigs list, many of these people our word of mouth referrals only.
