Break out your decoder rings

I had a rather self interesting day yesterday. Not going to really share the details, but I thought you might find the mere fact that I had a self interesting day, interesting.

Large is now officially grounded for 2 weeks. He is pushing us very hard. We tried to show him the error of his ways, but being an hour late home, forcing me to retrieve him, after being late several other times, finally broke me. 2 WEEKS BOY! 2 WEEKS! Hermit Jim had a post about listening to your parents when you got older, and the behavior of Large has me wondering if they actually ever listen.

"We are not afraid to entrust the American people with unpleasent facts, foreign ideas, alien philosophies, and competitive values. For a nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people."
-- John F. Kennedy. Remarks made on the 20th anniversary of the Voice of America at H.E.W. Auditorium, February 26, 1962

Why the quote? Because I am talking about the Hate Crime bill and banned books over on the Kansas Preppers Network.

Yellow Grape
Roma
Super Sioux
Paprika
Rutgers
Habenero
Mortgage lifter
Amish Paste
Arkansas Traveler
Black Krim
Beef Steak

Told you to break out those decoder rings.

Actually the list is of tomatoes and peppers that I have growing in the closet, and should be ready to go outside next week.

It is still raining, I just need two days of sun and dry so I can get everything outside.

I am not on drugs, I am just frustrated. I waited all winter to do something, but haven't been able to. This would be spring fever.

My Small is now 14, and I find myself in the wonderment of teen maintenance (again...and for the last time with one of my own) I work with teens, but there's something always a bit "different" with one of the home units. I find my own to most often be a joy...but there's something about that teen stretch, and it can be a trial at times...and playing the role of the the one who has to toe the line can be especially no fun. Take care, Phelan...I guess this is just to say that I can relate.

Phelan...
It's frustrating to have them challenge you, and you wonder just how far they really want it to go.

The last whipping I got from my Dad,after using the razor strap he threw it across the room...got right in my face and said "You are too old for me to whip any more, so from now on it's you and me and this!" as he raised his fist to my nose!

I never questioned whether or not he would have done it...but the mental image was enough to keep me on the straight and narrow!

I might mention, the strap was ONLY used if you screwed up in a major way! That time I did, and it was the last! (see my halo? I still wer it)

Argh...teenagers! Enough said.

Love your tomato selection and hope you get the weather in your favor for a while!

I'm sorry you are having trouble with Large! Teens. I was very lucky to have two girls that didn't challenge very much. Both are nice young women now.

I am soooo sick of the rain now! I'm thinking of farming rice this year, and the mushrooms (not doubt inedible!) are everywhere. The birds are even trying to move into the house!

Having said that, i will probably be praying for rain later in the summer! No making me happy!!

Thanks for today ~ I needed a deep breath of fresh country air. Came home to carnage - pups got a hold of chickens. They are now awaiting a pick up to go somewhere else. Sorry to hear about Large. I am right there with my middle one.

Ah yes, teenage angst... been there will be there again many times. My Large will be 15 next week. She's a good kid but I could do with a bit less drama. My medium (12 in 2 more weeks) is starting to hit puberty- already! Teenage girls I know- I was one once- but boys! Those are for my husband....
Hang in there, I hope it dries out for you. We had your kind of seemingly never-ending rain last year.
Judy
