A weekend in review

We milked, and filtered. Right into the coffeeWe are having an issue with keeping Mama in the stanchion long enough to milk her out. We tried putting something behind her to stop her from backing up. We saw the previous owners do such a thing. It was a no go as she tried to turn around in the stanchion. I am slightly afraid to use a neck chain with her. She isn't use to it, or milking. Anyone have any suggestions?
Got me some milk
Eddie is easier, she will stop to get scratched and allows me to clean her up without being in the stanchion. We have noticed that her udder is slowly getting larger, yesterday evening however, it was huge!

This weekend, my 10 year old went camping as a boy scout. This meant no parents. How sad. They headed south, to Ok. He had a blast and even got to pet a red fox cub.

Do your hands hurt yet? I don't know about the chain, I would try it, see if it works.

The stanchion should close and lock her in it. Cliff made my stanchion out of two-by-fours.

I was going to make a "got milk?" joke but I can't think of a good one.

How cool that the boys got to see a fox cub.

Hi, I just finished reading your whole blog. I found everything very interesting. I was wondering if you could talk about carrots. I live in a small studio apartment and I'm trying to grow some inside. They pot there are in is too small and I don't know when I should transplant them. Right now they have about and inch and a half tall greenry. Thanks.

Tim, no and that surprises me. We did try the chain, will tell you all about it tomorrow.

Donna, we need to get the stanchion a little tighter I think. She tries to turn around when she is closed in.

alrescate, oh I am sure you will think of something. I am envious of the boys getting to hold that fox.

Fountain Pen, my, that was a lot of reading. Happy to hear you found it interseting, and welcome to my blog. As for carrots, they don't like being transplanted. I would get them into the pots you want them in asap, gently, and hope for the best. They do well in loamy/sandy soil. Hopefully you will not lose too many. Good luck. Let me know how it goes. And feel free to ask anymore questions. I will be glad to help out the best I can.
