i'm on a mexican whoa-oh radio

You are so welcome for that earworm.

I will be on blogtalkradio tomorrow, Saturday 13th on the Family Preparedness show.

You can listen live here.

You can also call in and ask questions or ask them in the chat room they have available.

The show starts at 1pm central time

A Couple of things

I NO LONGER HAVE TO HAND WASH CLOTHES!!!

We got tired of waiting for GE to respond. And I could care less about them and their junk parts. We bought the pump, and found out why it was so expensive. Instead of just selling the pump, which is removable, they sell you the entire assembly. Blah!

I had a 30 year old maytag that worked just fine before I bought this washer.

The bumper had filed an appeal. That means my stepfather's job is still in jeopardy. We have no idea why the Union seems to loathe my stepfather as he has always paid his dues and never crossed a picket line. Has even stood on the line with him.

The Homesteaders Way has added new listings in Butcher shop, livestock, canned goods, home/gifts and Fresh produce.

I have two friends, both work for the same company that husband was laid off from. One was on furlough so long, the his unemployment runs out next week. The other had his pay cut almost $3.00 an hour, and will loose his home on March 3rd. Someone said that the midwest had jobs a plenty on a blog. I laughed until my side hurt. Not sure where they thought the jobs were, but they are not here in Kansas.

Homestead/family farm business listings

Remember I am not a tech geek, just a normal dork. I did my best and I am still working on it.

I used my fiber listings to test it out. So those of you that informed me that you were a contact for fiber, please look it over and tell me what to change or if you want to be pulled. I tried to do multiple listings for those of you that do more than just fiber.

Photobucket

I told you I was serious.

Homesteaders in business

The collection of fiber sellers got me thinking.

Homesteaders, got a business you would like to promote? Do you run a CSA? Sell cookies? Candles? homemade items?

Let's get a collection of things going, and I will get it all sorted out and published where it can be easily found and linked to. Of course you can find the individual, but not one collective of homesteader made items. I just went searching.

I think it is high time that we push each other, boost each other, and support one another. And I want the hook-up. ~ha!~ Actually if I can buy the items I need from one of you, I will, rather then searching out some generic store.

I will even start, however I do not have a website as of yet, because I deal locally right now.

Chubby Chick Breads

Organic and locally Kansas grown ingredients. Breads, pastries, pastas and desserts. Catering and special orders available. Email for menu, prices, and events.

Serving the Wichita Metro Area.

Now it is your turn. Veggies? wheat? soap? whatcha got for me? Don't fret fiber dealers, I have your info, and will include it in the database.

Leave me your comment, with the link, even your esty store. And let me know if you have logo or pic that you would like used.

Sound like a plan?

Batteries Not Included

Undies needs toys.

I guess I might need to explain who Undies is to some of the new readers. Undies is short for Unexpected Delight, he is our 1 year old Kerry Bull.

Undies needs toys.

Yesterday I was watching from the warmth of the house as Undies stood within view of my window. I wasn't sure what he was doing right off. And then it suddenly dawned on me, he needs toys.

He had found a tire tube. He had it on his muzzle, lifting his head up, and trying to get it down around his neck. Th tire tube wasn't doing what it was suppose to, and Undies spent about 5 minutes attempting to get that tube to slide or bounce down. Of course I had a giggle fit watching him.

When Lott, our rent-a-bull was here, he had a fondness for our tire swing. He would butt it so it would swing back and forth and play fight with it. He also loved the loveseat that we had in the field, pushing it like a football player, or lifting it up trying to get it over his back. (loveseat was out there to be burned, we left it while he was here)

The one thing that no one seems to tell you about Kerries or Dexters are the young bulls love their play time. And toys are a good idea to keep them occupied.

Snow Storm and snowboarders

We are waiting for the rest of our 8 inches or more snow to fall today. We are told to be ready for blizzard conditions.

Lightning and snow storms, it is a common occurrence here and hadn't even thought to mention it until I saw a post on the Popwell homestead about it. I did try to find a photo of the phenomenon, but alas, nothing. I will try my best to wax poetic and give the beauty of the storms that they deserve.

Imagine if you will, thick white and wet snow failing thickly about you, the wind has died down and you can see three feet in all directions from you. The ground rumbles under your feet, and you remember the feeling from the spring storms that love to visit you on a regular basis. Instinctively you raise your head to the heavens, the wetness of the snow bites at your exposed skin, and you squint to keep the snow from blurring your vision. In the corner of your eye you see a quick, bright light, and turn your head to see it better. Then you wait, you know it will be there again, you just have to have the patience. Then THERE! The snow doesn't part, it falls heavily around you, yet you see it clearly, the white blending and stretching the colors of pink and purples and a majestic blue. A brilliant sudden sunset that lasts only a fraction of a second. The ground rumbles under your feet once again, and you will never forget the first time you saw lightening in the snow storm.

And I will leave you with my brothers new xrays.
