I want to be a Cowboy. I got to be a Cowboy
Right now I am in the process of planning my 6 year old's, 7th birthday party. He wanted a villain theme, but as time is not on my side currently, I talked him into a good old fashion cowboy and Indian party. Horse rides, chicken wrangling, calf chasing, target shooting, campfire with marshmallows, and a chuck wagon will be going on. Our resident Sioux has offered to teach the kids a dance.
Hopefully it is as big of a hit as my oldest Fear Factor party was. We really enjoy the kids' parties around here. We don't spend a lot of money, but come up with super creative ways for them to enjoy themselves. The only money that will be spent on this party will be food, BB's, balloons, and party favors for the kids to win. I have everything else, including the ribbon for the calves tails. Don't worry the adult cows will be separated from everyone. I remember doing this as a kid. It was 4th of July at the Cow Town Museum here in Wichita. I was 7 years old. This was the day I discovered I liked cowboys. It was a rodeo and all these 20 something cowboys were walking around with their dusters and tight jeans. And when the call for the calf chase sounded out, I jumped at the chance. It was muddy because of the rain we had been having. I ran out with a bunch of other kids, trying to snatch a ribbon from a calf's tail. A certain color could win you $50! I grabbed at the ribbon, but ended up with a fist full of tail. I was not going to let go unless I had that ribbon! I was dragged through the mud.
On the plus side, a few of those cute cowboys laughed and patted me on the back. ~wistful sigh~

On Today's Menu
Spaghetti O's and Meat Balls
Oh, yes, you heard correctly. I have the recipe for Spaghetti O's before Campbell's bought the company and changed it. HAHAHA! (that would be evil laughter)

I could never win a spelling bee
It's been the same ole thing around here. Processing food, cussing at cows, getting boys off to school, nothing to really write about.
If you are needing eggplant info or recipes, I have them here for you. If you are in need of some other fruit/veggie, let me know. I will gladly help out if I can.
Have a day!

A Shocking Purple
I finished the peaches this weekend. Made 3 pies.
Saturday I went to my mother's house. It was my youngest brother's birthday and I went earlier to get some more of those grapes done. Mom and I got into position, and started processing. I placed the pureed grapes in a pot on the stove, then leaned over touching the stove, to turn on the burner. Some of you may remember that I have accused my mother of trying to kill me in the pas. Well Saturday she made yet another attempt. As I touched the stove I got a 100 volts through my hand, into my arm, stopping at my spine. How do I know it was 100 volts? Because after I was done doing the Phelan ritual dance of I've been shocked! My step father broke out his voltage meter. I think I am done with electricity at this point. How many time now? 3?
Mom called a friend in, he is an electrician. He found some future problems and fixed those, but was unable to discover what exactly was wrong with the coil. They left that one burner disconnected. Sure, that made me feel lots better about touching it.
