New Federal Child Labor Laws and 4-H

According to Ocola.com

The Labor Department can only regulate employer-employee relationships, so Hancock said the proposed rules shouldn't affect 4-H, Future Farmers of America or other educational programs. And, they may not keep children from helping on their grandparents' or uncle's farms if they aren't paid.

Don't pay them and you are exempt.

Sorry Large, guess you will have to earn your money doing something else. Like mowing lawns, and not with the brush hog.

Maybe the people he's working for can buy him the stuff he wants as a thank you gift in exchange for working, if they want to be politically correct?
The whole thing is just ridiculous. There comes a point in your life when you realize that you are so much smarter than the people who are running things, but you are also much less corrupt than they are, so change is going to be slower and more difficult than it needs to be. I wonder if they create problems just so they can make it look like they are actually doing something so the idiots in Washington will keep pumping up their budget?

Hey there are ways around a some of the bureaucratic cra.. Woops meant to say stuff. Just go along with the kid to the neighbors and work for about 1/2 hour and then turn it over to the kid. When the job is finished the neighbor pays you and at the end of the week the kid gets a large "allowance". Or you contract the work from the neighbor, kinda like a handy man/woman service. Then you hire your kid to work for you.

It will end up just paying them under the table anyway. As long as no one complains, it didn't happen.

Since they'll be paying him in cash presumably, I can't imagine this affecting Large too much, eh? Unless there happens to be a government inspector hanging around the neighbours farm.

I was going to suggest they could just give you 'gifts' of money and you could give it to Large as an allowance. But that sounded kinda like I was suggesting you rent him as a slave or something.
