Was I snoring?

I am tired. No fancy words for it, just plain tired. Yesterday was a very mundane day. And I was ever so thankful. I did dishes and laundry, sat down to watch the signing of the Spending Bill, wondering why all the fanfare about it, and promptly passed out on the chair. Costumer showed up scaring me out of my skin. I wasn't expecting anyone nor was I expecting to fall asleep like that.

Looks like Kansans will be getting their Income Tax returns after all. Good. The people have spoken and they said hand it over.

I have been having an issue with my right hand. Feels like I punched a brick wall. It has been hurting on and off like this for months making it difficult for me to milk. We are going to head up to Yoder (those that don't remember or are new, Yoder is a very large Amish community here in Central Kansas) and see if we can find a hand crank milker. My husband thinks he can make one, but I worry about damage to the udders. I can't find much info on them online. Just a page or two about how milkers use to be. I know my husband could figure it out, and it will be good, the boy's a freakin' genius. But with all the other things going on, I think I will check in Yoder first.

I saw a film clip using one of those some years ago and I must say, it looked painful for the cow. Very squeezy.

Let us know what you find out on them. Would you?

I know that some of them were very bad for the cows. I found what I am looking for, but not how to make it. It would be the one right before the electric. I have read thje history of how they evolved, I have seen the pattons, but none of that helps. I am going to head over to one of the Amish Dairies and see how they do it. I know they don't do them all by hand.

I would think there would be some way to make one that works on a principle similar to a human manual breast pump. Perhaps one could convert an electric to work by bicycle.

Just throwing thoughts out there. I really don't have a clue.

I don't know, either. But from a woman who was hooked up to an electric pump several times a day for months when my youngest son was an infant, I do ask for compassion on behalf of your cows. ;) LOL

i don't suppose you could take cow size teat connectors and hook them to a people size pump? Just throwing that out there.

Yeah yeah, it's all well and fine that you are going to source out a tool to help you milk, but what are you doing about your HAND??

I was also one that used a breast pump for a while - not fun. But my children didn't butt my breasts either. If an animal can take that it can take a milker. BTW, I gave you an award. Come on over to my blog and pick it up. -Sandy
