Here we seem to have a bit of flooding happening. Roads around the shop were shut down yesterday while the city tried to clear the clogged drains. Luckily the holler clears out rather quickly, just leaving us with sucking mud.
The boys are sad because they don't think that the minnows and the creek chubs (a neighbor clued us in on what those blue, spiked faced fish were) are still in the pool. Our two plums trees are gone, that saddens me. However the rain is letting up today and we should only have a few scattered storms the next couple of days.
Does anyone know what these are? They are popping up everywhere! Edit; I was informed they are mayapples. Another score on the wild edibles! Leaves are a no to eat, the roots are iffy on some peoples views, but the fruits are edible.

Those are mayapples.
My husband tells me that morels will grow with mayapples. I'm not sure if that's true or not, as I've not seen any (I've not looked super close since where our may apples grow is real snaky and I'm terrified of the copperheads we have around here).
Maybe you'll get some good mayapples and then make some jelly/jam!
Yes...look for morels. I'm in MO so I don't know about morels in your area...but here Mayapples are a good sign. Not always...but the two like the same conditions.
