We spent all day Sunday preparing for this winter storm. We are on the boundary of the 1-3" and 3-6". It is enough to shut down our roads here.
We have fire wood aplenty, food enough 'til spring, but not for the livestock, we have a week on hand, and I readied for the toilet flushing. Oh yes, I learned my lesson from earlier this year. They say that there will be no ice with it, however 40 mph winds that are coming could cause us to lose power. We are ready for it.
To my US (Sub)Urban Homesteaders, Rogue Wild Farm is giving away the book, The Urban Homestead.
We also wrote letters to Santa. Large is too cool for it, but I'm not.

Hope you stay safe and warm, and enjoy some family time.
We are in for about an inch and a half of rain here. Please keep the snow. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT let it come this way.
gipsiwriter, we will, thanks.
Donna, no promises. But I will try my best.
what's the third thing on your list?
Yup, did the same prep work here as well. The snow might miss us but the winds and rain plus Tornadoes will hit tonight.
Tornadoes in December, how crazy.
in order
Sleep
muted children (for a day)
Tickets to Tool (a band)
all my chores done.
I know I have the handwriting of a 12 yr old, or a doctor :D
your handwriting is fine. the third thing is just real light to read.
Modern Day Redneck - we had tornadoes last year around the end of December. Never happened here before. I'm getting prepared for bad weather, cause I think it's going to happen again.
It's been raining here all day, we are flooding. The weatherman just changed the forecast, we are looking at 4-6" of snow now.
I swear I didn't do it Donna! I promise. That 3" headed your way was not of my doing.
Stay dry, hope it isn't as bad as predicted, but you are well prepared. I love the thought of a letter to Santa.
Ruth, yep. We spent all day moving firewood and making sure we had everything. Waiting for the sun to rise to see how bad the ice is. The snow won't start until mid morning.
