Chilly Morning

bbbrrrr. . . the storms last night brought in some cold air. However it will get back up into the 80's and setting of more severe storms today.

Yesterday's storms here weren't as bad as they thought it would be. We got hail and straight line winds, and lots of rain. We only had 13 tornadoes in the State. Not too much damage. Gust-nadoes mainly. One couple pulled off the road and a tree flew across the highway, crushing the car. Killing the 2 in the front seat. Our only fatalities.

Our weathermen on every channel were jumping around all excited about the storms for most of the day. With the Reading and Joplin tornadoes everyone was a bit jumpy. But what they were seeing was "perfect storm" conditions that just failed to ignite over us. However OK, 2 hours south of us, got the worst of it.

We lost power. that was about the worst we saw, besides the zero visibility between the rain and wind.

The storms came through in stages. I was on the phone with Skippy waiting for the last storm to move through. She was a little upset with me because I kept saying how pretty it was. But thunderstorms are an awe inspiring sight at times.

That's the storm front you see.

Storm Front

it's raining roosters

and that's an annoyed rooster.

One more day of storms and then we get a 1 possibly 2 day break before we do it all over again.

So glad the storms weren't too terribly bad for you. Hate that anyone lost their lives in them though. I'm hoping mother nature will calm down sometime soon and give everyone a much needed break, especially those that are needing to start rebuilding, but can't because of the constant crazy weather.

I wasn't upset - you had me laughing chastising the rooster. giggle

I just wanted you to get your butt back in the house. You could hear the wind and [I think] the hail.

Crazy lovable lady. Glad you all are okay. Stay safe and keep in touch.

That looks like one pissed off rooster! I can almost hear him grumbling now!

I'm glad the storm or the worst of it, missed you! As long as you're safe!

Hope you get a break real soon!

Glad you and yours are safe. Seems others in that part of the country didn't fare so well.... I know the ones in Alabama were a bit abnormal, but what about in your area? Are the tornadoes more active this year or is the news coverage just so much more intense? The pics of the devastation are heartbreaking.

thanks guys

alex, we are real slow on tornadoes this year. We can easily get 200 in a day. but as our population is rather small most don't do damage to structures or people.

I checked the news today and was shocked! The weather around there is scary...I suppose you guys are used to it though...I am so glad you and your family have not had to go thru any horrible tornadoes...I was also wondering how you were feeling after your "mini" stroke ordeal? still thinking about that...

I'm glad you're all ok. Do you have a storm shelter, or a basement?

We have a cellar to go to if needed. The boys have decided to stash their bug out bags down there for now.
