I know what you are going to say. . . white trash ingenuity at it's finest! Yes, that it a truck bed, yes that is an old topper. You are wise to catch that the wood is reclaimed pallet boards. Wow, never thought anyone would guess that was part of a bunk bed, and the feeder was made with an above ground pool part!

The greatest thing about the new coop? If things ever got really bad, we could live in it.

And here is the pic I promised of the ram-a-lamb

That cracks me up. Really what a great condo for the chickens. Perhaps I should let my husband collect more white trash items. Or maybe not, I'm not sure. :) But I love your project.

Love it!

Cathy, NOOO! As soon as one piece of white trash is on your property, it reproduces faster than bunnies! You think, well that's all of it, it has all been put to good use, then you turn around and there is yet another pile of it.

Stephanie, husband will be pleased to hear you say so.

Thats a cool chicken coop, and seems to me it was easier than building it all from wood!

Love the condo! Making something new from reclaimed is so the way to go. Hardly white trash; think more upcycled or reclaimed or frugal. =)

Do your chickens do windows? heehee

This is the absolute coolest chicken house I have ever seen. Skylight? Check. Sliding glass door? Check....just wow.

And assuming it was free? BONUS! pretty sweet Phelan if you ask me. Nicely done.

Looks pretty good to me! Heck, if it were a bit bigger, I'd stay in it myself!

Bet the chickens don't mind it at all!

hehehehe I love it!
We once made a chicken coop out of an above ground pool that wouldn't hold water anymore and reclaimed house windows from the dump

Love it. You upcycled materials into a chicken condo! If my wife would just let me go dumpster diving like we used to in Chicago, we'd have a lot more built around here.

That looks great. Love the skylight and sliding glass door.
What I want to know is how do you get the boards apart on a pallet? When I try I break the boards they are so hard to get apart for me.

goatlady, we had a tool. You can use a cat's paw but we have a pallet buster

That is the most awesome chicken coop I have ever seen! High five to you and Husband!

I'm able to get all the free pallets that I want from my work, so we always have some free wood lying around. Talk about an invaluable freebie!

Thanks so much for posting this. Chickens are on our list of critters that we want, and I can't even begin to explain the elaborate coop ideas I had. ("Cribs" would be interested in doing an episode I'm sure.Lol!)

Absolutely love your blog!

Wow, that makes my Rubbermaid boxes for hens look swanky. I do love how they can look out through their huge-to-them windows. The chickens look happy.
