Well...I'm disappointed

I was hoping to be scared, I do love me a good horror show. Instead what we got from the Glenn Beck program was a dialog that is already happening in my community. No, I am not talking about the country Bumbkins only, but the city folk as well. The scenario's covered, they are mundane. The "Bubba Effect" . . . why I saw that happening a few years ago when I started fighting NAIS. The more government puts restraints on us, and the more they want us to share what is rightfully ours (example; The National Herd) the more people pull away from them.

I wanted to hear more from the military guys, they were leading to something interesting.

Worst Case Scenario

There are two things I really don't bring up, religion and politics. One of the reasons is you guys are a diverse bunch of readers, and I mean diverse. My blog is about homsteading, and my life in it, politics rarely emerges into it. Unfortunately that is no longer the case. There are so many rules and laws that invade my simple life that is is getting to a point where I can't ignore it all.

The state of the economy hit my family a year ago, and is intertwining more and more. The price of food stuff is getting ridiculous, and I am so happy we grow our own.

So why not watch a program that should manage to scare the begeebers out of me even more?

I like Glenn Beck. I think I have mentioned it before. I like the man. He can laugh at himself, he is thoughtful, he seems to understand or at least can comfortably speak with us mid-westerns. The libertarian commentator is doing something interesting tonight. I imagine most of you have heard about it, but if not, I will fill you in. He will be having a guest panel on tonight, men and woman that are considered to be the most brilliant minds in our time, and they are going to have war games with our future. Hash out the worst case scenario's of America's Future.

It should be interestning to say the least.

We Surround Them

Anyone else plan on watching it?

Humbly Honored

I have a few awards.

Mommymommy land gave me

"These blogs are exceedingly charming. These kind bloggers aim to find and be friends. They are not interested in self-aggrandizement. Our hope is that when the ribbons of these prizes are cut, even more friendships are propagated. Please give more attention to these writers. Deliver this award to eight bloggers who must choose eight more and include this cleverly-written text into the body of their award.”
8 Miller Time

2) Pass the award to another 15 blogs that are worthy of this acknowledgment. Remember to contact each of them to let them know they have been chosen for this award

And very little time to do them in. If I get grumpy with any of you over the next two moths, forgive me. I am too tired to know what I do.

Was I snoring?

I am tired. No fancy words for it, just plain tired. Yesterday was a very mundane day. And I was ever so thankful. I did dishes and laundry, sat down to watch the signing of the Spending Bill, wondering why all the fanfare about it, and promptly passed out on the chair. Costumer showed up scaring me out of my skin. I wasn't expecting anyone nor was I expecting to fall asleep like that.

Looks like Kansans will be getting their Income Tax returns after all. Good. The people have spoken and they said hand it over.

I have been having an issue with my right hand. Feels like I punched a brick wall. It has been hurting on and off like this for months making it difficult for me to milk. We are going to head up to Yoder (those that don't remember or are new, Yoder is a very large Amish community here in Central Kansas) and see if we can find a hand crank milker. My husband thinks he can make one, but I worry about damage to the udders. I can't find much info on them online. Just a page or two about how milkers use to be. I know my husband could figure it out, and it will be good, the boy's a freakin' genius. But with all the other things going on, I think I will check in Yoder first.

The state of the State of Kansas

Some of you might be watching the news. Kansas will be withholding State Income Tax Returns.

hahahaha! I got mine 2 weeks ago!

Another farm visit

A quick note about HR 45. It is NOT in the stimulus package. What is happening and where the confusion is coming from is the HR 45 will require you to submit your health records to the federal government. The stimulus bill or whatever they are now calling it has funding and requirements that all medical records must be computerized, giving easier access to umm. . . people. Gun rights activist feel that including this e-health bill in the stimulus is the first step in new gun control laws because of how HR45 is written.

Yesterday morning, my mother, my oldest son and I headed out to the farmstead. It was cooler than last time, no bees arrived on the scene. I scraped the 7 layers of paper off the wall reveling the plaster of Paris.

and dumped the jars of 10 year old food.

Makes you hungry doesn't it?

Actually the pickles and ham smelled ok, but the okra ~gag~.

And we swept and swept and swept. Mom cried "I got blisters on me fingers!"

The smell of bleach seems to have offended the raccoons and no new nest were discovered, thankfully.

Once I came home I took a shower and really wanted a nap. But no, we had to go get a couple of bales for the cattle. The second bale broke on the truck, so we left it up there. Not sure yet how we are going to store it as the first bale was already rolled out to them. Will problems never cease!?! I know they won't, but dramatic effect can be fun sometimes.

It took 2 1/2 hours to load these photos. I so hope you appreciate them.
