Yet another reason to put your flour in the freezer is that you won't have to deal with the wolf spider that has decided to bury itself into it, waiting for flies or for your fingers to fluff up the flour.
*shiver* Snakes do not bother me - spiders make me scream like a girl! Well, guess that's good, eh? =) Thank you for the heads up. Not something I would have expected!
Uuurrgh. I've become a lot more tolerant of spiders since I started gardening more. But I have my limits.
My freezer gets delivered tomorrow. Never thought I'd be using it to kill bugs. Amazing, the things you find yourself doing once you start some serious food storage action.
Not the sort of surprise you want to find in your Kings cake?? lol Oh gosh, we have those wolf spiders here. There was one a couple weeks ago on the ceiling in the bathroom, right over the toilet. The spider was about as big as my hand, the biggest I've found so far, and I was SURE it was a tarantula, lol. My hubby did 3 AM Kill Duty that time...usually I'm the one that vanquishes interlopers...
I am not scared of spiders, but this one jumping out at me, caught me off guard. Placing you flour in the freezer will prevent any spiders from crawling in. This was not something I picked up at the store, this came from my home. We have lots of spiders in this part of the prairie.

We have those stupid moths that think our pantry is their home too....
creepy!!!
Oy, I'd never bake again if I found one of those suckers in my flour. I know they're not poisonous, but I still hate 'em so.
I'm with Kathie, I hate spiders.

I like spiders. If you freeze your flour you'll find dead bits of spider (hard to remove) rather than intact, live spider.
