Mr. Speaker, I rise to introduce legislation that allows the shipment and distribution of unpasteurized milk and milk products for human consumption across state lines. This legislation removes an unconstitutional restraint on farmers who wish to sell or otherwise distribute, and people who wish to consume, unpasteurized milk and milk products.
Hard as it is to believe, the federal government is actually spending time and money prosecuting small businesses for the "crime" of meeting their customers' demand for unpasteurized milk! Recently the Food and Drug Administration conducted a year-long sting operation targeting Rainbow Acres Farms in Pennsylvania. As a result of this action, Rainbow Acres' customers will no longer be able to purchase unpasteurized milk from this small Amish farm.

Please write to your Representatives and ask that they support this bill. Even those of you that are scared to death of raw milk as this bill will put raw milk under health regulations just like your store bought milk.
What do you think about HR 1830?

I'm not American so I am excluded. I would get around this by renting the cow to the people and then charging them nothing for the milk but per quart charge for milking their cow. The milk is then already theirs and they are only paying for a service.
Cow share is illegal in some states.
Some states raw milk is legal to sell, however the FDA has issued statements saying that raw milk is dangerous. They go after raw milk dairies even if it is legal in the State. By passing this bill the FDA will no longer be able to go after raw milk only because it is raw because this bill covers the interstate commerce that the FDA prosecutes farms on.
Cow sharing, where it is legal, is a great idea - but you have to pay for more then just the cost of a quart of milk. It is highly cost prohibitive and the milk, that we all want, costs around 9 dollars plus per gallon here - we would have to cow share out of another state in order to get the milk we grew up on.
It is a shame the government is doing this. It is so wrong. It will stop the availability for those not in the state where it is legal.
Ron Paul is my man! I so wish he had more of a chance to get in the running for the office of President. Otherwise, there is nobody I'll vote for.
