Now to the Deviled egg part. I used my Deviled Egg with Ham recipe that can be found here. You can omit the dill if wanted. Carefully fold in your redbuds, the amount is up to you. Or you can garnish with them, substituting them as capers.

Luscious.
Now that I am craving deviled eggs can I ask [yet another] stupid question.
[Too bad I am going to anyway. giggle]
If you pull off two cups of buds won't it keep the tree from growing leaves where you plucked them off or does it not make a difference in the scheme of things. We have a smaller tree in our yard and I would have to deflower the darn thing to get two cups. :D
you need to leave some flowers on as the seed pods are edible as well :D Cook them like green beans. You can half the recipe if needed, you won't use all the redbuds in your deviled eggs anyways.
Hey Phalen.. what's a red bud? I honestly don't know or do you mean any budding flower?
Also thanks for the comment yesterday!
Redbud is the tree pictured at the beginning of the post. Not everyone has them.
Wiki entry about redbuds
Oh sorry Skippy I didn't read the entire question or something. The flowers are what you want. The leaves will grow without them.
No red buds in Maine. We have crabapple trees. Pickled crabapples. Now that may not be too bad at all. I don't know what your blog did but I can't sneak away and read it at work. Our hospital logo comes up and it says "security risk". You been up to something naughty? I hope so. I like to give our hospital a goose. LOL
hmm. . .hope I don't catch anything from it :D
Not sure kelly, it was baned in Germany for awhile as well. I pride myself on getting banned from an entire country.
aww, man. We're about 2 weeks past redbud season here in KY. I picked a few and had them in salad, but had no idea how to use them in actual cooking. And the beans are edible, too? Rock on. I'm gonna have to look into that as we have loads of redbuds around here.
