I was scared.
Medium decided he wanted to talk, I didn't understand him. He was confusing. Wood and children. I tried to remember F.A.S.T that my doctor taught me. I couldn't. All I could remember was to smile in the mirror. Medium was still talking and I remember walking away from him. The mirror told me nothing. I had lost sight in my right eye. This is not strange to me as my migraines do the same thing.
My face began to melt. Just before Husband got home, I could feel the right side of my face sliding off. My cheek seemed to have been dosed with Novocain. The edge of my eye lid felt as though it had slide past my cheekbone. The pain in my temple increased, pushing my right eyeball to feel as though it was bulging from the socket. I became dizzy and tumbled up the porch stairs. I just wanted to sleep.
Husband came home, and I bawled. I was unable to tell him when it had started. I had tried to tell the children that something was wrong, but it isn't on them to remember. I had no idea if we were still in the important 3 hour mark. I needed to take the clot buster meds.
I am home and somewhat comfortable this morning. My face isn't as droopy as it had felt. I was told it wasn't noticeable to those that didn't intimately know me. It is no longer on fire. I am not as confused, though am still a bit lost at times. Words keep disappearing. I am very sore in the eye. A shadow of a migraine.
My boys did well. Large is old enough to keep the other 2 at peace when a migraine strikes. Now I need to teach them all on what to do if this happens again. I wasn't prepared for it. I know that I will have strokes. There is no question on that. It is part of having severe migraines your entire life. Luckily this was a very small one. I'm only 33, I wasn't expecting them until later in life. I have had micro-strokes for years, but nothing remotely like this.

WHAT? Oh man, I'm so sorry! Sending healing energy your way.
THIS IS WHERE THE INTERNET SUCKS AIR.
Phe - I am at a lost. I can do nothing, not even REALLY hug you.
I want...so much, to help you. I am so so sorry.
I guess my lame ass internet wishes are going to have to be enough because I can't be there. You know I love you and you know my tears are falling. For you.
OH Sweetie, saying I'm sorry feels sort of lame. Just know that I'm keeping you in my prayers.
Stroke is caused by impaired blood circulation. Cayenne is great stuff. Improves blood circulation, immediately adjusts blood pressure etc

No more acid reflux, and I feel good. I am 78 6-3 260 lbs. My BP is usually 120/80.

Yes, the effect of cayenne pepper on your body is dramatic, even literally instant and no more so than with the heart. Cayenne pepper’s benefits is one of the things that brought you to this article so now let’s discuss the phenomenal healing properties of cayenne pepper with the human heart.
Dr. John Christopher, the famed natural herbalist, was persecuted relentlessly by the government for his practice of herbal medicine all the while assisting patients in curing heart disease, cancer, tuberculosis, infertility, rheumatism, leukemia, and every other incurable under the sun.
One of his greatest stories in his long career was how he could instantly stop a heart attack if he could get the patient to drink a glass of warm cayenne water. He said, “A teaspoon of cayenne should bring the patient out of the heart attack.”

I hope you feel better soon!
Huggs!
Holy crap! Never heard someone describe the feeling of a stroke before. So sorry you had to go through that, and I hope you're feeling better very soon.
OMG! I am so sorry. How scary for you. Sending positive thoughts your way.
My sister suffered a stroke 3 years ago, we don't have strokes in our family history, but we do have high blood pressure and migraines. I now take my blood pressure meds regularly, when I used to forget them.
Take it easy the next few days...
Oh! I don't even know what to say... all words of comfort seem to fall short of this. I can't even imagine what is going through your mind.
Take care!!!
Judy
My friend, I am so sorry to hear that you had this happen, but you seem to have come through it OK so far!
That's a good thing!
Hope all continues to go good for you!
How scarey, glad you are okay and here is improvement. Praying for you.
I want to post on GGT, just can't find the time right now. My Dad is due back today and I think the earth is going to shift( if you know what I mean) Keep us in your thoughts it's bound not to end well.*sigh*
Rest and take it easy for a few days.
Blessings for your weekend,
Kelle
This is terrible... Take care as best you can. I'm sending prayers your way.
Hugs to you, sugar...
Shade and Sweetwater,
K
Sorry to hear that, but glad you are better. Strokes run in my family so we are always on the lookout for TIA's and prepared for the real thing if necessary.
Glad you are teaching your kids the warning signs.
So sad to hear you had a stroke, hope you feel better soon.Your too young for such things. Blessings jane
Thanks guys. I am feeling so much better right now. The pain is gone. Although earlier today I had another scare. It was like I was looking through broken glass. I thought maybe it was only the 1 eye, but it was happening in both. That means there was a disruption in my brain. It scared me so much that I actually called Husband at work. I just wanted to hear him. Any how the computer hurts my eyes so you won't see me for a few days. Besides, I want to spend the weekend with my men.
I'm glad it was a mild one and you're recovering, Phelan ...really glad your boys were there and your husband got home to take care of things. We can prep and prep and prep and then something we didn't prep for happens. Thank God you're all right.
Let your men take care of YOU for a while. They would be happy to, I'm sure.
Prayers and Hugs being sent your way, Phelan.
I just talked to my Doc about the shattered glass. He said, Congrats you have a new type of migraine. This makes my 5th type of migraine (counting rebounds.) He said these are painless, called Ocular migraines that are associated with Occipital lobe stroke. Not what I had last night, another one.
Goodness! That would have been scary. I hope it's a LONG time before something like this happens again. Like NEVER!
Oh, I am so sorry! I am glad you are teaching your sons what to do. They are becoming responsible young men. I hope you have many more happy years with your family! You are too young!
(((((HUGS)))))
Oh my, I'm at a loss for words! Makes me want to cry! I hope the doctors find a way to prevent any more. Hugs!
Even in a time of distress and extreme discomfort, you still find a way to write and provide an entry that readers can learn from. That is why you rock! Prayers for a quick recovery!
I am so sorry this happened to you, and am glad that you are better now. This can be so scary.
Especially when we have young children.
Take care of yourself.

I have had crippling migraines my entire life, and began experiencing "funny migraines" when I was in my early 20's. "Migraines" where I couldn't speak, and had trouble understanding people - oh, and part of my face might go numb.
I later learned what those were. I cried for days.
My heart is with you.
Praying for you. I am sorry you had to go through this terrifying experience. You are too young for this! ((HUGS))
I occasionally have ocular migraines too - painless, but weird and scary events. You have to experience them to understand how your brain can disconnect from your vision. My heart is with you.
Wow. Haven't checked in here for a while and this is not what I expected to be reading. Glad to hear that you're doing a bit better now and hope you recover well and quickly.
I'm so sorry you have to experience this. I know I'm no where near you, but if there's ever anything I can do to help, just let me know.
Rest, take it easy ... which I know is difficult for you ;), but remember that you've suffered a brain injury, and you'll need some time.
Please accept my well-wishes. I hope you're feeling better soon.
Thank you all for your well wishes. I am doing well today and all sign of the stroke are gone.
Glad you are feeling better today. Sorry that you had this happen. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Like one of your other commenters said, I wish this weren't the internet so I could do something more actual to help you.
While I was in the hospital recovering from brain surgery in October I had a TIA (transient ischemic attack). I was sitting in my hospital room talking to my husband when my hand started to twitch uncontrollably and I was overwhelmed with anxiety. I walked to the bathroom to try and walk it off. I looked in the mirror and could see that the right side of my mouth was drooping. My speech was also altered. This lasted for all of 3-5 minutes but it felt like an eternity. A CAT scan determined that I'd had the TIA.
It took me quite a while to not be afraid to be alone. If you need anything or just someone to listen to you while you worry let me know.
Like many of the others, I am having a OMG! moment. At 33, you have had micro strokes and now this?? *hugs* How scary. Cannot say that I would have been so calm.
