By golly it's windy (edited)

Damage seems to be only the shingles, gutters and some tree limbs.

Honestly, I am not sure if our trailer will last the night. We have had hurricane force winds all day. Large and I just came in from chaining the gates shut. Usually I can do it by myself, but not tonight.

Large stayed home sick, we watched the cotton woods bend in half from the wind. We are not strangers to high speed sustained winds, but this is ridiculous. Our mobile home is on concrete block, with concrete skirting and we have hurricane tie downs. Even with all this, the house has been slammed into and felt like it has moved a couple of times. All the shingles on our deck look to be gone, and we have very little rain gutters left.

This is a picture of what the surface winds look like. Hmmm. . . reminds you of a hurricane. Picture courtesy of KSN and a weatherman I have a crush on. That's right, I'm weather groupie!

And for your entertainment, some good ole hometown news reporting about it.

Wish me luck, haha!

We will be fine. I am more worried about something taking out the fencing and my cattle getting loose than I am about the house getting pushed over.

I hope that you are okay - and when you read this and are okay - 'cause I know you will be - let me know please.

Love you guys! Please take care

We made it through the night. House is still standing. I will be headed out here after some coffee to assess the damage

You might install earth berms near your house. They work like the bug shield at front of the hood that deflects wind and bugs over the cab of the truck.

Thank you for the advice Vlad. We are actually in the process of berming the north and west side of the house.

Thanks Phe - I am so happy you are okay. I hate watching the weather anymore because I know you all are there and I worry.

I hope the damage isn't extensive.

I'm glad you made it through the storms ok. The tornadoes stayed north of us.
