I did say, it felt like this year

it was going to be a good year.

Some of you probably don't know this, and some of you forgot, but we have been borrowing a car for little over a year now.

Why?

My truck engine blew up while hauling cattle. Bought a new to be truck, blew the engine taking the rent-a-bull home. Our car transmission went out, after we had it rebuilt the year before, and we make $16,400 less then we did the year before. (Yep, just did taxes and saw it on paper. More then I thought it was)

We bought a used engine for the truck last year, March I think. We got it in, but the manifolds have bolts in them that can not be removed with out a special tool, like a torch. So my truck has sat there, and we have been borrowing a car from my husband's boss.

Husband came home the other day and informed me that he traded a rear tire for a motorcycle for manifold work. It shouldn't be too long before I have a working truck again.

But I do worry about dear good neighbor. I mean what will he do on weekdays if he can't do things for us with his truck?

Also, my stepfather. Things have turned rather interesting. The bumping man was made to train for 3 days and take a test. Turns out this test was a no fail test. And in front of the Union Reps, the bumping man FAILED the test. He failed it! Stepfather will keep his job for a few more months. I do wonder however, if the bumping man tanked it on purpose because of all the tension that this was all causing. I don't know, but it is a nice thought.

In this economy? No one fails on purpose unless he is still guaranteed his old job - you knew he wasn't qualified and I COULD NOT BE MORE THRILLED [sorry to the guy that failed, but really? Your step dad deserves that job]

YAY! the day is just getting better and better - and you will soon have your truck back. Awesome.

PS - you are getting all kinds of entries on this Valentine's Give Away [thanks for the support] from all the people coming over from here. I really appreciate it. It gives me lots of new blogs to read.

I'm with Skippy Mom - for whatever reason, I am glad to hear that the guy tanked the test and your step stays employed for a bit longer (at least).
Love the barter. Good neighbor can still help out with his truck to save some wear 'n tear on yours. =)

So glad things are looking up for you and yours. About the bumper man, kinda seems he is getting what he deserves. I've just realized how good 09 was for us, so much so that I actually blogged about it! We were in a bad place for a long time, so this is a nice change of pace.
