~sigh~

I have been having a terrible time connecting to the Internet this morning. Had to uninstall, then reinstall and all that fun stuff.

I feel like a was tackled by a pro wrestler. So sick. I ended up missing my middle son's saddle lesson. He still ran merrily over there, I just didn't get to see it.

ugh...

While I am curled up in bed, head over to howling hill to sign up for the seed exchange program. I did.

LJ feed readers, I had nothing to do with the reruns. I don't know why lj does that. Luckily it isn't that frequent. sorry

Bitting my lip

Things are getting exciting here on the homestead. But ALAS! I am not to breath a word of it, yet. And it is hard not to tell it, but things are not quiet ready for the telling.

My middle child rode bareback for the first time yesterday. My husband had hid the camera from our youngest son, and I couldn't find it to take photos. But I have it now. Today he will be riding with a saddle. Yesterday he also learned how to get on and off a horse, getting it to walk, and stop. He also learn to use hand signals for back up your in my space, and which direction you want the horse to go in while standing in front of him. They showed him how to get the horse to jump over barrels and bow, the last two they have been training the horse to do and were just showing off for my son.

Today he will be on a saddle, learning the basics of saddle riding. Yesterday was just to get him use to being on such a large horse. Not sure why they choose the youngest and biggest horse they have, but they know what they are doing.

No, I can't tell you.

What have I created?

My middle child has finally decided what he wants to be when he grows up, and here I am looking at 30 and still don't know that one. He wants to be the horse whisperer. I would say that the decision is a great one for a 6 year old that doesn't have a horse. But we do have a neighbor with 4, and the know how. He is willing to take the boy under his wing and teach him. I just need to swallow that mama paranoia and be happy for him.

I did suck it up, and broached the subject with the neighbor. My middle child has been talking about this for days, but hasn't got up the nerve to ask the neighbor. So I did it for him. Our neighbor was pleasantly surprised. All his boys have grown and gone on into the military. He was happy to teach my son everything. Today, after school, they will begin. I am hopeful that this interest lasts. If he sticks with it, he will be very knowledgeable later in life and able to make a go at doing what he loves for a living. Keep your fingers crossed.

The weekend never ends

To some people, a weekend never ending would be a good thing. Not so for me. My weekend projects spill over into the week, and since I do not leave the home for work, I can continue with those projects. My current one is the wattle fence. I moved half of it to were I want it. I also stacked rocks. I have developed new calluses. Guys, if you want a gal with soft hands, don't fall for a homesteader.

I have already began entering seed orders in my garden diary for next year. I know, it is a tad earlier, but you see I have some online friends that rock! Friday, 2 boxes arrived at my house. Inside I found more Laura Ingalls Wilder paraphernalia then I had seen in a long time {a bookmark, cookbook, stamp, book mark, CD, a reader, pamphlets from her house in MO} The box also had a wonderfully soft, crocheted, blue stole. Not to mention the several different books, one on making old fashioned farm equipment. There were several seed packets from Seed Savers, a very cool magazine, herbal balms and soap {even one for tats!} The clock shirt that I mentioned liking from Spraygraphic, a Blue Ribbon cook magazine, and Soy coffee {that I am drinking right now} There was also a gift certificate to Seed Savers, and one for Baker Creek. And another one for the McMurray Hatchery. OH MY!

I have been very out-of-sorts lately. Too many things I am not comfortable with have been happening. This hug box came just in time. It's a great feeling to know you have friends out there, even when you have never physically seen some of them.

And with a little skip in my step, I am off to attempt a completion of those weekend chores.
