What did I do?

I was talking with Marina {author of Tales From a Texas Farm Wife} by the end of the conversation I had bought a donkey.

She is a standard burro by the name of Sombrea. She's 15 years old and has a temper. Perfect! Now I have to figure out when I can get down there to pick her up. And in the mean time I need to find some donkey care manuals.

We have looked at buying a donkey before, we just couldn't afford to spend as much as most people wanted for them. I got Sombrea for an adoption fee of $200. And she might be pregnant.

And what is really cool about all this is now I have an excuse to meet my friend of 4 years for the first time.

You can read about my new donkey here, or read about all the troubles Marina had on Craigslist when she tried to get Sombrea adopted here.

Also could any one in the southern states use a couple of men to work for room and board. They are located outside Denver and want to move. They are loggers, but willing to work land. Let me know, and I will tell you more about these two men. Thank you.

Congrats on your new donkey! I'll cross my fingers that she is pregnant---that would be great!

You are crazy. That donkey is a demon! ;)

Monica, it would be, and thank you.

rebecca, coming from Marina I wouldn't doubt it.

Congratulations! My friend Sara has a donkey in her home village house (and sheep and whatnot) and she tells the most wonderful tales about him. I'm dying to meet him :)

Phelan, lmao.

If not a demon, that at least some sort of deranged creature.

I just read her post about craigslist, and she had me laughing so hard.

I do wish you well with the demon donkey though.

That's one manner of creature I never desired. I wouldn't mind breeding my Foxtrotter to a donkey, though. A gaited mule would be nice.

Congratulations, she looks very sweet (demon or not)! :D
Here's hopin' she's preggers!

My neighbor has miniature donkeys. Apparently they're very good at keeping coyotes and such away.

This is going to be rich. I can't wait to see how this story turns. I think your donkey is actually Edgar Allen Poe. Good luck. Don't put 'em in a corner. And yes, I may have missed a pop ref...I'll have to go back and look.

A pregnant donkey, wow and my husband hit the roof when I adopted a second dog. The stories should be fabulous, absolutely fabulous.

This is the first time I've ever seen anyone just suddenly buy a donkey. Reminds me of my Mom when she bought this life sized knight made out of tin for no reason. Of course it ends up in my room.

Well Congrats on the donkey. Good luck with it. I've always despised donkeys since a little petting zoo incident that happened to me. (long story).

I know absolutely nothing about donkeys. Can they be used for anything, or do they just hang out and look cool?

Good luck.

We just got done talking to the vet--she'll do a palpation for the suspected pregnancy when we bring her in for her vaccinations and blood draw for Coggins. Getting her into the stock trailer will be quite the trial. We will probably wait until next week when Steve's "on vacation."

So, are you going to get a cart so she can take y'all into town?

*shakes head* You silly, silly woman.

*grin*

Have fun with the donkey!

A-N, that keeps me hopeful!

Rebbeca, Can anyone see me with anything less than a demon donkey?

Donna, I never thought I would end up getting one myself.

Cheryl, sounds like I will be finding out for sure soon.

Jeff, I have heard that as well, one of the reasons for wanting one.

The Fool, ha! ok ok I get it, I can be a tad silly at times.

Stephanie, I will keep you updated.

maggie, if I got another dog my husband would hit the roof as well.

andrew, spur of the moment animal shopping, oh the fun. Sorry about the knight.

burdockboy, they are burden animals. I am not sure what she has been trained to, hopefully at least a cart. The little one will have a little more old school farm training.

Marina, is she cart trained!?!

ALrescate, and that's why you love me.
