Sorry I am tardy

Days have been flying by here at the Neophyte Homestead. My mornings have been spent attempting to finish getting the garden in, which I should be done with today. But then again, I have some massive mulching to start on.

I have been canning, and Candying, and preserving things as of late. I know, I owe you a couple recipes, and will get on that as soon as I have a bit of time to breath.

The boys have taken up a new sport

The long bow. Husband and I spent Monday driving around town attempting to find long bows. Even ended up at major sporting stores, they could order them, but none in stock. A pawn shop hooked us up with a small archery store. They only had two bows left. Not much demand for them. Everyone is into the compound bow. We decided to go with a the lesser expense of a fiberglass bow, and wait on the wood ones, or making them, until we know that the boys want to do this. So far, the first thing the ask to do is practice. Blisters have started to develope under the leather of their gloves. They seem to be loving it.

Other than the garden, and livestock tendering, we have had to deal with several motorcycles.

Hope all is well with you guys.

I'll be back soon.

I just saw a news report about how The Hunger Games has caused an explosion of interest in archery. Maybe you'll have better luck finding wood bows in a month or two.

I've been casually looking around for bows for a couple of years now and no one seems to have them anymore. I also heard that the Hunger Games has sparked an interest in the longbows again. I hope so if it makes them easier to find. I love it, and I'm pretty darn good for a middle-aged, overweight, out-of-shape "sub-suburban"(too close to the city for rural, to far for suburban) lady who doesn't get to shoot often enough.
Good for you Phelan. Encourage your kids. The more skills they have, they better they will do in life.

Rat, I meant to thank you for the mother's day wishes. And I hope the mrs had a good one.

Carol Anne, I forgot about the hunger game. Maybe it will. The archery store we ended up at is willing to work with us to get all the gear needed and have a few things on hand for us if this turns out to be what the boys really want to do.

Kath, I did find some nice ones online, but they take 8 weeks to deliver. The archery store only had two in stock. Husband and I have been practicing with the boys'. Kind of a mid size bow for us.

Large however isn't as interested in archery. Husband and I decided that I will take medium and small to archery practice, so I am learning as well. While husband takes large to heavy amour meant fighting, which practice is at the same time as archery. Soon I shall have pics of husband in full gear beating the heck out of some guy. Fun family times.

I actually got pretty good with the bow. I think it helps you concentrate.

It seems to be helping with the boys patience. In which I am grateful for.
