Raffle info and banners

I was asked to make a banner to help spread the word about the fundraiser.

Here is one;

You can find a smaller one and the info on how to enter to win all those great raffle prizes here;

The Downed Bikers Blogathon

Thank you to everyone that is helping. Have to go cry for a moment, I worry about my husband.

Then what happened?

Husband and good neighbor met at the fence under the cover of darkness. It was 3 am, and one would think that this meeting was a conspiratorial secret society meeting. But it was as innocent as that. Bad neighbors dos woke us up, woke good neighbor up as well, as the dogs tried to attack our dogs through the fences. Back and forth they ran. From neighbor to neighbor, barking and growling, trying to eat fencing.

Day light arrived, and husband was off to work. Alas! he forgot something at home and made his way back. As he rolled his motorcycle down the road, the bad neighbor dogs came running out of the concealment of the neglected yard and started attacking the bike. They didn't stop until I screamed at them, and husband was already stopped in our drive way.

I called the county. The men they sent out could have cared less about what was happening. He was bored. Husband wasn't bit, so no foul. BS! Obviously this man has no idea what can happen when a dog is attacking a moving motorcycle on a sandy dirt road. Those dogs, or even husband could have been hurt.

The flooding washed up about 4 lbs f potatoes. Because of the clay content of our soil you cant just cover them back up. When the soils wet, it sticks to your fingers and not to the ground. I went a head and pulled them up. mmmm... baby potatoes.

And Happy Name Change day to Large! He will still be known as Large, but no longer known as my 12 tear old. From Hence forth he will be also known as my 13 year old!

Doing it anyway

I made a promise, of sorts. I told the Downed Bikers Association that I would be raising money for them. Even talked to the founder on the phone. I also went out of my way to harass people to donate items for this fundraiser. So I will be doing it.

I am going rogue.

But what else can you expect from a biker chick?

So now the annoying pledge drive begins.

On July 31st 2010 I will be blogging for 24 hours straight, posting every 30 mins to raise money for the Downed Bikers Association.

Normally I raise money for Farm Aid. But this charity (which is indeed IRS recognized) has no Stars to help them raise money. If only Captain America was here!

But the real reason I am choosing this group is because they go out of their way to emotional and financially help those that have been injured in motorcycle accidents.

A few years ago, I lost 2 friends (different incidents) to inattentive drivers. Both making left turns, both ran down while stopped, both killed. Then Brian came into our lives, he was on the shoulder, turning right when a jeep ran him down, and dragged him underneath. The driver of the jeep didn't stop, and now he is paralyzed from the waist down. He exhausted his insurance with physical therapy. And recently we had a poker run to help him.

The Downed Bikers Association rallies around families that have lost their dear sweet biker. They help with funerals, have black shirt runs in support.

Bikers are our Patriot Guards, veterans, fathers, mothers, lovers, children. Every time you look in the summer, one motorcycle group or another is doing something to help others, now it is our turn to not only help them but to say thank you for doing so much without expecting recognition.

Can you tell I have a thing for bikers?

So what to do.

Well because blogathon is not happening I am hosting pledges (which is all I do) on Pledgebank.com

Sign my pledge at PledgeBank

Sign the pledge to pledge your financial support. After the blogathon, you go to the Downed Bikers website to donate yourself, or you can use the drive I have set up at Changing the Present to donate directly to them.

Remember the raffle Items? You know you got to have some of that.

If you can't help financially, please please spread the word. Just about every one knows someone in their lives that loves motorcycles. And it doesn't matter what they ride.

And I would also love it is you would stop by and talk to me during the event. Help me stay awake. We play games and have give-a-ways. You can see the fun we have had in the past, here;

And those that read in feedreader, the blogathon will not be hosted here this year, it will be on my bike blog, Following the Yellow Brick Road.

(would any of my other thonners that are going rogue please contact me, maybe we can find a way to help each other)

Remember I never see your money, I only take your pledges.

But I have prizes

Looks like Blogathon.org will not be hosting pledges this year. Without any explanation they are closed until next year.

Here's the problem, I have already contacted my charity telling them I will be raising money for them. I also managed to get some really great prizes to raffle off.

If I decide to go ahead and hold my own private Blogathon, I will have no where for people to pledge. But I got prizes.

What do you guys think? You want me to go ahead with the fundraiser?

Of Course, It's Monday

Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July.

We dealt with flooding and had to cancel our party. It's ok it cleared up long enough for us to set of our fireworks. However we couldn't grill outside. We ad almost 5" in 12 hours, and are under a flood and flash flood warning until Tuesday morning. It is still raining. We do indeed need the rain, but not this much of it.

People crack me up sometimes. My husband's BIL showed up here the other day. He saw our turkeys and promptly informed us that wild turkeys were illegal to keep. For starters they are not a wild turkey and explained this to him. At the end of our explanation he only replied "it's illegal to keep wild turkeys" ~sigh~ By his definition our Black Belly Sheep are illegal as well.

X is doing nicely. I have been watching him run around. He really likes standing under Sam (horse) and she doesn't seem to mind when his licks her legs. All the other cows get kicked if they get anywhere near her.

Although it is raining, I have a full days work ahead of me.
