The Catalogs Are Coming, The Catalogs Are Coming!

The seed catalogs have already begun to arrive. It is a little earlier than usual. Most of the catalogs I get I will not order from. Seed companies seem to like to sell your name, and send you catalogs from all of their daughter companies.

I made a mistake (back in the day) of ordering trees from a company the was in bed with Monsanto. I now know better and stick with companies that I have found to be more upfront bout their seeds. Jung's, is probably one of my favorites when looking at known seed companies. They clearly label their seeds as hybrids or heritage.

Skyfire Garden Seeds is a local company that I plan on trying out this year.

I hope that everyone had a good weekend and Christmas {or Yule, or other gift exchanging holiday that you celebrated on Monday and Tuesday)

I am particularly happy about one of my gifts, a camera that has not just video but a built in mic (my last one you had to buy it separate) now all I can think of is what evil I can wrought, I mean instructional video could I produce with such a thing?

This could add an entire new horror, I mean element to this little homesteading blog of mine. ~insert evil laugh...I mean giggle, here~

I also got some more canning supplies. Not to mention the great time I had hanging out with my family.
