To be honest, I am a capitalist pig. And I have mentioned it numerous times. If you are attempting to bait me into an argument, that will not happen. As I agree with you on many of your opinions. I am not "green", I do not wish to see agriculture defeated, or the clock turned back to a time when starvation was rampant. But also I do not see a need to put all my eggs in a single basket and rely on others for the things that I can do myself. And I do believe that we should be allowed to know what it is exactly that we are eating. And be able to make our own decisions from there.

I promote eating locally, because I am a capitalist.

I have said it many times. People that read my blog should not do so because they want to be green or read it for the romanticism of my lifestyle. I talk about the slaughter of animals in detail. I discuss the issues with raising your own food, the injuries, the downfalls, the sadness.

I repurpose and homestead because I am poor white trash. I also enjoy working in the soil and the companionship of my livestock as well as the bounty they bless me with.

I am not a leftist, nor am I an activist. I am a homesteader that holds my beliefs as my own. I do not lecture, I do not play holier than thou. I talk. What people do with their lives is their own.

Personally I do not see your post as a leftist view. And many others will not as well. What you have written has been said many times before, by many other people, just in different words, and often shorter. If you want a critique I would suggest shortening your post to keep people more interested. As the average reader only pays attention to about 1,000 words in a single article. Also, that not everyone homesteading is an eco green freak. Self reliance is my thing, just as listening to death metal while milking a cow is. Some individuals are just that. Some are indeed sheep. But we have the choice to be which ever we wish. And that is what I care most about in this lifestyle, my choices.

By commenting here, I am assuming that you wish to irritate me and others that live the way I do, to promote yourself and to get more readers. I don't blame you. It is the easiest way to get noticed.

I wish you all the luck.Phelanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08250080326099834661noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28663723.post-28594469755204557212011-03-26T17:10:15.594-05:002011-03-26T17:10:15.594-05:00Recently I wrote a blog entry offering a leftist c...Recently I wrote a blog entry offering a leftist critique of the ideology of “Green” environmentalism, animal rights activism, eco-friendliness, and lifestyle politics in general (veganism, “dumpster diving,” “buying organic,” etc.).
