I'm so tired of studying all the time that I find it a really tempting offer, LOL!
I don't think I would survive the winter, though, so I better get back to my homework :)

You're a little too far away for me, but that sounds like a mighty good price for five acres!

Boy, if I could get out of this house and into that one I would do it today.

75K?!

Wow...a piece of land like that would run about 700,000 here.

Massachusetts is a hard place to be a farmer.

Do you know how good that sounds? What kind of jobs are in the area? I've just about had it with Greensburg - and FEMA - and this whole mess...

Oh - and how does the school district feel about home schoolers? Don't need that kind of hassle...

ANita, we are a 25 minutes highway drive to downtown Wichita, Newton is about the same. There are all kinds of different jobs, and if you know how to butcher, the local grocery is always in need. Homeschooling is fine. We have many of them around here. I grew up in this county, no worries about that. You want to come out, and take a look?

Sirannon. oh winters arn't that rough. :D Good luck on all that studying!

Fancyhorse, it isn't too bad considering how close we are to wichita. GO out further and you are looking at around $1,000 an acre.

Adoka, Being tied down to one place isn't the greatest if you don't love it. Not sure how things are going in your neck of the woods, but housing isn't as bad here as it is elsewhere.

Taylor, No one moves to Kansas, it is a cheaper place to live than most states.

Anita, I don't know what your husband does for a living. But if he is a mechanic of any kind, Foley-Cat is hiring and they will train. Good wage and full benies and it is only a 15 minute drive from here.

Currently Rick works for the City... has experience on back hoes, loaders, and can weld - lacked 12 credit hours of having a degree in manufacturing technology - has worked for farmers, and spent 25 years doing absolutely everything there is to do in the oilfield - except being a "company man"...

as Long as as he can pass a UA, he should be qualified for foley cat.

There is 2 dairies and many farms in the area, as well as some manufactoring plants.

Sounds great... but in the current economy, I'm not sure how we'd get a mortgage... especially just moving into the area... banks here wouldn't loan us money to move somewhere else...

Phelan said...

It wouldn't hurt to find out if you would qualify. You would need 15,000 down for it, if the bank asks for 20%. Just remember that we here in Kansas are behind the coasts when it comes to fashion and economics.
